I can't make the meeting tomorrow night, but wish I could. I am getting frustrated. I have not lost in 3 weeks. I am only able to eat 1/4 - 1/2 cups at a time. Am getting in my exercise.

I am totally happy with my weight loss so far, but as I said the stop in the loss is frustrating. I know it is pretty normal to hit these plateaus.

I did see a pre-op picture od myself today. Holy crap. I was amazed at what I looked like. I hope to get an up to date pic soon and will post both..

I feel your pain! I know I'm only 3.5 weeks out and I was so excited the first week and a half to be losing. Then I hit the stop sign and no matter how hard I jump on my scale it won't budge! I can't wait to get this fill and see if that helps! Good luck, and hope to see you next month!

Howdy!

I expect to go tomorrow. If I remember, I'll bring 2 cannisters of Protein Powder that I don't need anymore. If anyone wants them, let me know. One is chocolate and the other is chicken Soup. I liked both, but I have more Protein powder that I could possibly use.

Julie - the fills are pretty painless. I don't particularly like needles, so I just don't look. The first one numbs you up and the second is the fill. Good Luck! I hope to see you tomorrow.

Hello there! I just found this thread a few days ago and was happy to see people who are very close by me in Delaware.

I am going through all of the clearances for the lapband surgery. I have been cleared by the pulmonologist, the cardiologist, and have an appointment for final clearance with the endocronolgist next Wednesday.

I am very excited! My surgery date has been scheduled for 12/23/08 and I can't wait! I have health problems - diabetes, high blood pressure, thyroid disease, acid reflux, and high triglycerides....and I can't wait to lose this weight and be healthy again!!

I have found this board very helpful...and positive. Thank you all for making everyone feel comfortable here!

~Mary

Hi,

I'm going this coming Tuesday to the Dover office for my first fill. I can't wait. I have no restriction and am ready for some help. Dr. Iragu is doing my fill. I've never met him. What's he like??? When you go to their Dover office, you get which doctor who is scheduled for that day. It's so much closer for me. Last time, for my post of checkup, I saw Dr. Wynn and really liked her.

What can I expect with my first fill? Thanks for your help.:smile2:

for your first fill, you will have the area numbed with a local anesthetic, then the needle for the fill is put in place, it all depends on how you are doing, the type of band you have and how aggressive the DR wants to be. I have the AP Large band, 14cc and had a 4cc fill my first time.

I had Dr. Wynn for surgery and all appts except one, and that was with Dr. Iragau, he seemed mice, but I still prefer Dr. Wynn, just a personla preference

I'm glad you guys get to see Dr. Irgau - I keep getting some guy named Edward. I haven't seen Dr. Irgau since my surgery and I've been there twice. I went last week for what was supposed to be my first fill but Edward told me to start on mushies and come back in 2 weeks for a fill. Which wouldn't be so bad but he told me the exact same thing two weeks prior to that. I guess he saw how angry I was because he commented that at least I had still lost. Yeah. 1 pound in 2.5 weeks. GRRRRR! What kills me is I got my parents to cancel their plans to babysit for me and wasted the gas and bridge toll going to Chrias for nothing. I go back again next week and I swear if I see that guy once more I'm gonna go postal! Lol!

Hello fellow Delawareans........

I've just started on my journey. Had my consultation with Dr. Wynn on Oct. 17th and have scheduled my appointments to get my clearances. I'm doing the 3 month pre-op drill to attempt to get Aetna to pay for some of the bills. So, if all goes well I'm hoping to have my surgery sometime early March.

I find this whole process frustrating. When you finally decide to really do something that will chance your life for the better you want it to start now..........not 5 months later.

Any way, I will check in regularly to see how everyone else is progressing and let you know how my clearances are fairing.

My fill went great. I'm don't think I have enough restriction, but it's a start. I'm scheduled to go back in early December. I've been going to the YMCA and doing my power walk on the treadmill. I think that will help me more than just walking around the neighborhood. I'm going at least 4 times a week.

Hello!

Mary - welcome!

Lets - welcome. I felt the same way, here I am ready to do something about my weight and there are months of stuff to do. The truth is that all the stuff you are doing will prepare you and make sure that you will get through the surgery ok. It will actually go pretty quickly! Good luck and feel free to ask questions!

I only saw Dr. Iragou once, he is the one who actually did my surgery. He seemed nice. I have to admit I like Dr. Peters who is my doctor and assisted in the surgery. I have seen Dr. Wynn and she is very nice. I really like her as well.

Good to hear your fill went well Caelyn!

Well, I'm off to get some raffle tickets for my son's school@

Congratulations and welcome to the Band Wagon! It's good to hear the you are feeling better. But you have a ways to go before you get to eat, and it's a tough time of year to be doing this. Sorry.

Strain some Soup through a collander. I found that having something savory really helped. Also, popsicles or Jello are great for having something that you can "eat".

I started on pureed Soups about 2 weeks out. It was slightly bad, but so many people on the boards were allowed to start mushies and even eat that I was feeling pretty deprived and created my own intermediate stage between liquids and mushies. I pushed the "if you can drink it through a straw" rule and threw soup in the blender. I'm not recommending it, just saying what I did. (It is very important to give yourself time to heal, so please don't push it yet. You aren't even 2 weeks out.)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
