This is a bit suspicious to me. Two almost identical posts from newbies on their first post. However, just in case this is for real.........have you been to India? I have and I wouldn't even risk getting a splinter removed there.

I am sure now that this is a joke, or maybe someone told you this on April Fools day. People who go to India make sure that they are well covered with travel insurance so they can get out of there if they get sick. However, if you decide to go ahead make sure you count your kidneys before you check out of hospital because any spare parts get a premium there.

Thank you for your advice. India is one of the fastest growing country's offering overseas surgerys by internationally trained doctors. A lot specialising in gastric surgery. It is a very real question. I was more looking for info from someone who's been and had it done there. Thanks tho

Well considering the lack of people putting their hand up I gather not many people have chosen India for their surgery. And I can't imagine it being a popular surgery in India as you rarely see a fat person there. But, I look forward to hearing how your surgery in India goes.

I actually had my lap band replaced in India. I know it sounds a little crazy, especially as an American who had hardly traveled, but I had no coverage at home and found a doctor that I trusted who was very skilled with rebanding (and back in 2006 there weren't as many as I hoped). I actually had a wonderful experience. I did not have the sleeve and it's been 6 and a half years, but I'd be happy to answer any questions you have. :)

Thank you Kristina! I only added this question a few hours ago so thanks for your useful & relevant reply ... (See above) so what part did u go to? Mumbai or Delhi? I decided on the sleeve over band as it sounded too easy to eat through lol. But sounds like you've had great results?

I went to Mumbai, and I think you should read my signature a little more closely! Lol I hate my band. My first band I did lose 100lbs but it was nothing but complications. I gained it all back waiting for my second band after complications required emergency removal of my first. My second band hasn't had complications like my first but it just hasn't worked. I am revising to the sleeve in May.

I believe your question is an honest one but I also see where some of your wording (and apparent double post) would give AussieLady some pause. She's a vet who is very active and isn't quick to call someone a fake. A little respect goes a long way around here.

Unfortunately I went a while ago now and had a different surgery, but I can tell you that I was very happy with my experience. My surgery in Mumbai went better than my removal surgery in California where the doctor accidentally punctured my stomach, and better than my original band which was placed too high (also in California) and faced constant complications. I am not returning for my revision as I didn't want to pay for overseas flights or be gone that long this time (I now have small children). So I will be going to Mexico.

Sorry when u said "rebanding" I thought it meant it was so good you were having it tightened or something lol I got u now, that sounds horrible. Hopefully the sleeve works out better. And as for "the vet" I was only enlightening her as she seemed a little ignorant that people would go there for surgery. Being a "newbie" I felt a little attacked at my first posting on here. I'm booked in here in nz but for the same price I could see a new country and have a holiday! and I've heard good things about India but will be nice to speak to someone who's been - first hand. I heard Mexico is another option but soooo far from here 8 (

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
