I am having same issues. Except it doesn't make nauseous --- I am having taste issues. I have just been making myself. Call your dietician. Mine has helped me by just giving encouragement. Wish I could be of more help.

I am two months out. I had a hard time as well. I put Water or diet ice tea (given to me by the hospital) in one of those small medicine cups (got them from the hospital) and just sipped on it, when it was done, I refilled. I did the best I could. I did not force any liquid's down. Each day it got better and I was able to get more down.. and I am doing great now..

Oh and the meds.. I crushed them, put in a teaspoon with apple sauce, and they went down fine.

For me Crystal Light with very cold Water worked best. But I've also heard of people that had to drink warm water/tea in the beginning. Try it different ways until you figure out what works best for you. It gets easier as time goes on.

I had the same issue, the crystal light helps a lot. Some flavors you may not like, I can not tolerate anything orange flavored. Drinking Water does get easier, it will take some time, but just try and sip.

it's the density of Water which hurts our sleeves....by adding crystal light..or g2 it makes it easier to take...milk was good for me on.....water hits me like brick still and i an more than 6weeks out..

Try drinking the Water at different temperatures and try adding things like MIO or Crystal Light. Also eat sugar free popsicles. Each popsicle is about 1.8 ounces of water.

I discovered that I need to be sitting upright completely when drinking or it wouldn't "go down"!

I used to guzzle Crystal Light all day, and over ice. Day 5 post surgery and plain Water at room temp works best.

You have to be careful with the lemon because you are just post op. Lemon is a natural diuretic so you can lose more fluids than needed causing you to be dehydrated and back to the hospital you go. I am having the same problem of getting in enough Fluid. I am 5 days post op and today is the first day I am able to get in some Protein. Good luck

I am finding for me that ice chips helps a lot. I like the cold and letting the ice melt or crunching it doesn't even seem like I'm drinking.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
