How long do stalls last?

Recommended Posts

I had my revision surgery 10/2/12 & I lost 60 lbs in the first 3.5 months. For the last month and a half I haven't lost ANYTHING!! Just going up and down a few lbs. I'm so frustrated! I'm not eating over 800-900 calories and watching my carbs. I really could use some advice and encouragement!

Up your calories a bit. and make sure you are getting enough liquids in. your body is use to the same amount of calories. as soon as you add more food in there you will see it start to come off again.

Example add beef Jerky or turkey jerky in for snack with a cheese stick.

or a yogurt cup. something small makes a HUGE difference!

Good question because I have been in a major stall. Going up or down by 2 or 3 pounds, I am finally in the onederland's but I can't for the life of me get out of the 190's!

Each body is different. i am 9 months out and have not lost a lb in 3 months-actually, I started exercising and gained! As my doc explained it to me...each of us is different in the make up of our skeletal muscles and how much sugar and fat they store. Also, each of has different genetic components too. It is not so much about the scale as it is the inches! If you are still losing inches, you are doing well. If you are working out and replacing the fat with firm muscle, you are doing well (you will gain a few inches in the big muscle groups). If you are truly STUCK all the way around you need to up your Protein, check your Vitamin status and Water, water, water, water. The other thing was move, move, move!!! So have some patience with yourself and analyze where you are at in your patterns and enjoy that initial huge loss too!

After the six month mark, I'd loose 2-5 lbs per month and I'd loose almost all of it just after I'd get my period. Then I hit a huge stall from early December (11 months out) until mid-February.

The scale didn't budge until I started a jogging program about a month ago. I've dropped about 4lbs since then and I'd really like to drop some more! I'd like to get down to at least 160 and maybe even 155.

For me, if I stall, I need to change things up. I'll probably try to introduce some weight training this summer if I get a handle on the running and feel a little more confident about it.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
