If you have a sleeping pill I don't think it will hurt. Most have some kind of pain medicine or liquid tylenol. I took a heating pad and used it on the area that hurt. Gas will move around some so the area might not remain constant. I wouldn't put heat directly on incisions though.

Hope you feel better soon.

Are you walking like you are in pain. I started walking like normal right away swinging my arms and lifting them above my head right away cause I knew it would get worse if I was still and got stiff. I walked like crazy the first few days then stopped cause it was too few calories to do it.

I think though if you are too tired you will hurt more cause you are not 100% and your pain threshhold drops without sleep. Call the doctor if you think something is not right. Have you tried like some lavender and or valerian tea to help you sleep? Maybe with some pain medication?

Sorry you are having a bad time. I hope you feel better!

Take your pain meds - even if you think you don't hurt. Take them for at least 4-5 days as prescribed. It will help - if only to knock you out enough to sleep.

The other odd thing I heard was to kneel with your butt higher than your head. Something about gas rising to the highest point. I am not sure that you will be comfortable doing that position so soon after surgery - but it might help.

Good luck. Remember - this too shall pass.

That is the funniest thing I have ever heard! LOL and when standing would'nt it rise from the throat??? LOL you slay me this noon!

I agree I am still taking pain meds at night a week out. Cause I know everything is worse without sleep!

Remember - this too shall pass.

No pun intended.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
