I'm assuming it's your pre-surgery diet. Keep in mind that the purpose behind it is to make your surgery easier - both for the surgeon, and for YOU! When you feel hungry, drink some Water instead. It can help you feel more satisfied.

Hang in there! I'm in the same boat (going thru the process). I've been trying to keep my calories between 1200-1300 and its hard when your tummy's growling!

The first few days are the hardest. Don't give up! Do ANYTHING to distract yourself from thinking about food, dieting, eating. Go for a walk, clean the house, learn a hobby, go walk the mall, get lost on Pinterest, shop for pretty smelly things, window shop at a store you can't wait to buy smaller clothes in, get your nails done... do ANYTHING to distract yourself.

It is super hard being on any diet. I think that everyone on this site can relate. Maybe you can start by cutting back on certain foods that you know you eat often, that are high in calories. Prior to surgery,I wanted to start off on a healthier mindset about food. I started with "baby steps."

I gave up french fries and ice cream. Because I ate them often, I noticed a change right away.Next, I cut down on the bread and pastas. I lost weight without struggling, or feeling much hunger, because I didn't stop eating; I just changed what I ate. I was a chronic snacker. If I can do it, anyone can!

You will be fine. Just stick with your plan, and add healthier choices. I had a lot of string cheese... Just find your go-to snack that is good and satisfying for you. And increase your Protein. Good luck.

ARE YOU AS EXCITED AS I AM?? WOOOHHOOOO

Well, my surgeon took into account the 24 pounds I lost in the last year so I'm at my surgery goal weight! I need to finish up nutrition and mental health appointments and I can schedule surgery!!!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
