Breaking down... Not a pound lost

Recommended Posts

I gained 10 lbs in the hospital. So week one I lost those 10 plus 2 real ones. It sucks but my second week was awesome

Albertamom- take a deep breath, follow your liquid diet & stay off the scale for a week or so. Remember, you were hooked up to an IV, you stated you were on your period & you're body is recovering from surgery. Everything will be ok! My thoughts & prayers are with you. You WILL start seeing the numbers drop, give it time :)

Water in...water out. Try to get in as much Fluid as possible to help flush that hidden water out. It's a matter of shifting the water (IV fluids) from your tissues to your circulatory system. Keeping well-hydrated will do that. Keep drinking!

My surgery date was 25 Feb. I weigh exactly the same as I did the day I got home (205). Lost 10 lbs pre-op. Reading these posts has made me feel better. I was weighing each morning and evening. The scale is going away for a while for sure!

Ditto this. Very important to keep putting in as much water as you can stand past your 64oz. It's been my personal experience even before the surgery that simply drinking enough can be the key to losing or not. Your body is inflamed and bloated in a few places from the surgery and then the period. Water water water. Drink it.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
