I was just wondering if anyone has experienced very minimal weight loss after 2 week post. I am post a month and from week 2 to 4 there has been a 2 lb loss. There is no way I am eating enough that the intake calories vs deficit of a 338 lb man are being met. What am I ding wrong?

Have you started a workout plan? And are you getting in all of your fluids? Getting ENOUGH calories?

I've seen a lot of posts on here that say if you stall, to INCREASE your calories and your liquid, and it usually will break it. Your body may be in starvation mode from so few calories.

I had the same problem stalled for almost two months, it wasn't until I stopped drinking the Protein Shakes and was able to eat my Protein that the scale moved. For me I just can't do anymore than 20-25g of carbs plus I upped my Water to over 100oz.

I have only been eating like 4 times a day, probably more than I should each time, but not 5 or 6 times per day. This is a full time job. I think my consistency is kind of a problem.

My NUT and surgeon only want me eating 3 meals a day, plus a snack. I am usually between 800 and 1000 calories total, and way over on my Protein. I do think I need to try to get in more liquid though - only been getting about 6 cups a day, and really want to shoot for 8.

Mate if you have a search of the forum. Week 3 and / or 4 stalls are as common as mud.

Sounds like you're headed in the right direction. I wouldn't worry about 'tweaking' my calories at this early stage. You sound like you're having a good amount.

Make sure your getting adequate Protein. I like to get the vast majority of mine from food. Make sure you're getting adequate Water. Make sure you're moving. Exercising 5 - 6 times a week for 30 - 60 minutes is good. Walking is great early on.

Protein / Water / moving is all I'd worry about at the moment.

Good luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
