If you are on full liquids give it a try. Go slow though as many have intolerance to milk after surgery.

My doctor included it as part of my 2 weeks Clear Liquids phase. I discovered I am intolerant post op and feel much better now that I am NOT drinking milk. Every one is different so I hope you have better luck than I did.

I'm lactose intolerant after surgery as well. In 18 months, I've had milk twice. Both times I had problems. That means that ice cream and cottage cheese don't work for me either, which is probably a good thing. I can do cheese without too many problems, but I try not to put too much of it into my sleeve.

If you have an HEB in your area, they carry a brand called Mootoopia (non fat) that gives you 12g of protein! Just started buying that and choc milk for a snack.< /p>

My doctor won't allow the skim milk our mootopia, too much sugar in both. I use Water or unsweetened almond milk. 30 calories

That was my main source of Protein for the first three weeks. I tried to make Protein drinks but they nauseated me. I asked my dietician and she was actually surprised I was doing Protein drinks. She told me that getting my protein from natural sources was far better for you.

I drank probably 5 glasses of skim milk a day. I also added skim milk powder to Soup and pudding for some extra protein. I usually got at least 50g of protein in doing that. And I felt MUCH better than I did when I was trying the protein drinks.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
