Stacey Lynn 8 Posted March 5, 2013 My surgeon's office called last week to tell me my insurance co. wanted additional information from my primary doctor. Today I got a letter from my insurance co. saying that they were not approving the surgery because it was not deemed medically necessary and that information was not provided by primary physician. I have not spoken with my surgeon's office yet but based on opinions is this a final decision or will the insurance co. change once they get the info from my primary??? Freaking out here!!! I have ran up so many medical bills in order to be cleared for this surgery!!
Ladydawg2009 39 Posted March 5, 2013 I had this happen also. It was because although my primary surgeon gave a recommendation she didn't do a medical clearance. You would think they would kind of go together. I got the same letter from my insurance cigna. I called them and so did the surgeons office to clarify what was missing. Went back to my primary where they did blood tests. Chest Xray and ekg and did a medical clearance. my surgeons office resubmitted and i had approval in Four days. Stacey Lynn 8 Posted March 5, 2013 Thank you! This is what is happening to me. My primary had to say/write the actual words "cleared for surgery"! Thanks.
