What the F? Im 4 days out. 4 days! And Im starting to look like Ben Affleck at the Oscars! I've got a serious beard/ mustache going on! I look like my brothers when the Wings are in the play offs! It's not going to matter how skinny I am if I turn into a bald woman with a full on assault face muff! Is this normal? (Lol! It's kind of a funny "is this normal" ummm the answer is NO!) but does this happen frequently?

I haven't had to deal with an increase in facial hair after surgery. I finally got tired of plucking my chin hairs so I started seeing a electrologist to get the chin hairs permanently removed and now I'm hair free on my chin and she also does the fine hairs on my lip area. I'm not a hairy person by any means but unwanted hairs drive me insane. Look into electrolysis because that is the ONLY way to get your unwanted hairs permanently removed. I see her every 2 weeks and it cost about $30 for a 15 min session, it's so worth it.

Can be a real condition called hirsutism. Has to do with how insulin is handled by the body and impacts male hormones. Also can be caused by Cushings ( adrenal gland problems) or PCOS. I say call doctor.

I had to pluck long before surgery. Tried getting laser removal but if you have light pigment it won't work...has to be dark. This is a thing that a lot of women get with age. Sucks. Tweezers are my best friend.

I just let some woman at a salon abuse me with hot wax. We'll see how long it takes me to grow into a Chia Pet from here. I have to break it to my doctor that I fled the country to have surgery, and now expect her to do my follow up care, don't want to throw too much at her at once.

also, just a rambling thought from my husband when I read him this ( now the kids are having a full on debate about it at the dinner table) that back in the day they used to give you shots of testosterone before surgery apparently it gives you a false sense of feeling better afterwords. Not sure about this but he does watch a lot of the Discovery Channel so their is a good chance this could be true...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
