Do you exercise? Have you lost without it?

I am not encouraging this, but I am not a big exerciser. I want to be, but have some big time restrictions. As I have lost weight, I find myself more active overall...more walking, more movement. I have more desire to walk longer and further in my everyday activites.

When my time restrictions are changed in the near future, I certainly plan to change my exercise routine!

It becomes easier over time too - like I had to just accept that going to the gym 5 times a week was not going to happen, its just too hard with kids and i have too many important things to do while Eliza's in daycare to spend it all in a gym. Which is why I took up running.

But I'm so hooked now, so focussed on the next race and I love it so much that if I know I'm going to be busy that evening or whatever, i do get up at 5.30 am to go for a run. It doesnt feel like a sacrifice to do it becuase I feel so darn good after running and I feel so darn good about running. But its taken me almost a year for it to really become a daily habit and something that I wont just give up.

I am a street walker...LOL. I have a route that is almost 4 miles long and I walk it each day (more or less). Sometimes I even manage to walk it TWICE a day.

If you are going to walk in your neighborhood, don't just go around the block, even if you promise yourself you will do it 10 times. It's too easy to quit when you pass your house. Instead, walk a mile away from your house. That way, you have no choice but to walk another mile to get back home.

I did join a gym last February which was long before I got banded and I found that I actually enjoyed going there. Then two things happened: our very hot humid summer happened and I wasn't going to leave my air-conditioned house except to go to the cottage, and I wrecked my rotator cuff. I got banded in early September and figured that as I wanted to go back to the gym it was time to get my shoulder fixed. Well, I am still going to physiotherapy and am still in pain! I do a lot of walking. I walk home from all my physio appointments. I am losing weight but much, much slower than I would like. Since my operation I have lost 16 lbs, most of it in the early weeks. Part of my problem is that I don't have much restriction yet even though I have had a few fills.:cry

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
