That caffeine headache is a bitch, isn't it?:frusty: ;) I'm of the opinion that caffeine needs to be weaned off just like any other strong drug (like heroin) Going cold turkey is possible, but life isn't much fun until you survive the first, most awful days.

What I did recently when I attended a weekend retreat where coffee was not going to be served is to buy a box of Ultra Pep Back -- a newer version of NoDoz which is pure caffeine. I popped one bad boy in the morning and did not think about caffeine for the whole day. No headache, no crazies, just not on my mind any more. Maybe this will work for you!

Good luck!

Im not banded yet so im not sure exactly what is ok . What about tea?

There is some really good Raspberry tea Arizona tea has that I drink when I broke myself of sodas.

You might want to try that ? I get Migraines if i dont get enough caffeine in and these teas work fine for me and they are not carbonated .

Atkins advocates are familiar with, "Induction Flu" - a series of symptoms related to the body using the last of its glycogen stores. If what you're having isn't the break of a caffeine addiction, this is another option. It's extremely common anyone begins a low carb (e.g. sugar free) diet. It's usually short lived, a few days, but I've known people to have it for a month or longer... very uncommon though.

Once the misery is over, people usually experience a LOT of energy and "clear headedness". I never had the "flu", and never had the energy burst, but it seemed like I was the only one. ;)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
