9 1/2 months out and Gall Bladder surgery :(

Recommended Posts

I wasn't on any meds to prevent them. Some times I eat and it's fine and other times its not. The other day I had 5 baked lays chips and started to have pain. It's so hit or miss I'm afraid of food

Hi, I am curious also! My surgeon has me on Actigol. It is to prevent gall stones. I was curious if you we're prescribed this too. I haven't been taking them exactly as I am suppose too but I will after today! I hope all is well with you and you will do fine.

No,I wasn't prescribed any medication at all. I now have a date to have it removed. Saw my surgeon on Monday. He wanted to take it out today!! I asked if we could wait until 28th. He said yes, but be careful and eat as low fat as I can. Not looking forward to but I'm ready to get this done. Stay with the meds or this will surely happen. It is part of losing weight rapidly and also eating the eggs, cheese, and meat we are told to eat to get our Protein.

I had gallbladder surgery 2x, one in 2007 with pancreatitis from the stones horrible horrible experience wouldn't wish on worst enemy. Just recently had another gallbladder attack and pancreatitis in December 2011 apparently they left duct to long and it got infected and created a new pouch they thought was a gallbladder and tried to tell me I was crazy my gallbladder was never removed in 2007 because they can see it in ultrasound and MRI. They finally got medical records and realized it was infected duct had surgery in february 2012 to fix surgery boo boo from 07...You definitely want it out pancreatitis is not pretty...recovery uncomfortable not unbearable.

My surgeon called today and told me she wants it out. They wanted it to be Monday but I am aiming for the 29th. My surgeon can't do it but one of the general surgeons is an expert in the single incision removal so he is doing to do it. Luckily I work with the surgeon so I know he is really good but I really don't want surgery

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
