I think I might be the only fat person that HATES food. I hate food and the way it makes me feel. I hate my relationship with food. I am not one of those who wake up and can't wait for Breakfast. I can often go until 2 in the afternoon before I even get hungry. My problem is I suffer from insomnia and am a night-eater. During the night is when I consume the bulk of my calories/poor food choices. I can't wait to get my sleeve. Anyone else feel this way?

Yes I can relate... Well I did eat during the day... But I did a lot of eating at night

I still struggle with that... I think it's a hard habit to break

Something I still struggle with :(

You sound just like me. I rarely eat before 2 but then stay up until 1 or 2:00am every day. I find it is my productive time when everyone is sleeping and the phones aren't ringing. But I get hungry again and eat. I have been sick for over a week and going to bed early and lost 7 pounds without changing anything.

I think we all have our food issues. Mine is now Cheetos, although that is easing up some. I allow myself one single serving bag a month, but I have a ritual of sorts when it comes to eating that one bag. I haven't been able to break that habit completely, but I'm learning to manage that habit now. I can walk by almost anything without wanting it...and I shocked myself last night. My boyfriend ordered this big, yummy looking cupcake with tons of frosting and chunks of chocolate and nuts in it for dessert. He was moaning while eating it and saying how good it was, then offered me a bite. I declined without even thinking about it. I liked watching him enjoy the cupcake (he has no weight problem), but I had no desire for even a bite of it. To me, that is huge progress, because I might have wrestled him for that cupcake pre-op! :)

This was my worst food habit. I know for me it is most def head hunger, sometimes I actually go to bed early because the cravings are so bad at night for me. I'm almost five months out from being sleeved and I still struggle with it but am doing a lot better. When it first hits I have a hot cup of tea and sometimes a cup serving of popcorn and that's it. It is still a constant struggle but it is getting better everyday.

I know what you mean about hating it! People write that they are still "foodies" I have no love for my relationship with it.. food has done me no good (yes I know we need it to survive duh)

But it's never been a really good friend its only caused me heartache .

laura-ven, In some ways, I'm probably more of a foodie now than ever before. I refuse to eat food if I don't find it both nutritious and delicious, at least if I'm going out to eat. I'll admit that my morning Protein Bars aren't yummy; they're fuel, but if I'm paying for a meal, I want something really good. When eating at a restaurant, I will leave if nothing on a menu appeals to me. That's not to say that sometimes the strangest things really catch my eye. I once ordered tilapia in a greasy spoon diner and the waitress looked at me like I was nuts, but that was what sounded (and tasted) good at the time. Last night I ordered scrambled eggs for dinner...just scrambled eggs. It's what I wanted, so that's what I ordered....in a Mexican restaurant. LOL I'm not all into gourmet tastes, etc, but I want tasty, nutritious food when I'm paying for a meal.

I've always been a really boring eater. I will eat the same thing over and over again just to eat..

It was about the "filling the hole" more than pleasing the palate..

We don't go out to eat much, but when we do its ALWAYS sushi ( what can I say I have weird kids)

And I love the taste if salmon sashimi. So there is a little bit of a "foodie" in me :)

Salmon is one of my favorites these days. The poor fish guy at Publix always gives me a funny look when I order 1/4 pound of salmon, but that's more than I can eat at one sitting and it's just me eating here. I like the frozen patties, but they are hard to break up when they are still frozen.

I can relate you you in the fact that I can go all day and not eat and then in the evening before bed I want to pig out on junk. Also I am an emotional eater as well. Make me upset and the first thing I want is good, sometimes when I am happy as well! Lol!! But I can't say I don't like food because I defiantly DO! Sure wish I didn't thought.

That is amazing, you should be very proud of the fact that you didn't even want that cupcake. I sure hope I get there soon as well, surgery March 11 for me, keep up the good work!!!

Great topic. I was telling my friend the other day, though I am impatiently waiting for my March 13 sleeve surg day, I do feel kind of mournful, as if I am breaking up with a lover or something, a lover I have had all my life but now realize it's destructive to keep them around. I too hardly ever used to eat in the morning, and it has taken me almost 2 yrs to develop a new habit there and now I eat 1 6 ounce Greek yogurt w/ fruit and a cup of Bigelow Green tea w/ mint. That is about all I can choke down. It's in the evening that is the killer. Doritos or Cheetos or ice cream. I can go a month without having it in the house and then all of sudden I have to go get some. Lately I have had more control and realize how stupid it is as I am my own worst enemy. It has been nearly 4 months since i have purchased any ice cream, Doritos or Cheetos. I think the food manufacturers must put sugar in everything just to make us get addicted and keep coming back for more.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
