I have implanon birth control implant in my arm, I haven't had a pd in about 2 yrs. I was sleeved a week ago and have lost 21 lbs but when I got up this morning I was spotting. I haven't seen Aunt Flo in so long it freaked me out. Is this just bc of the rapid weight loss and hormone changes or should I call my obgyn?

I've heard of people not getting their period after having WLS, so if I were you I would call your surgeon first and see what they say. I've had a full hysterectomy so I can't tell you from my experience.

Estrogen is stored in fat, maybe after the 21 pound weight loss it has thrown off your hormones. I would call your dr just in case.

I am on birth control and got my period a week after surgery. I was told that your body is going thru so many changes that it can be normal. I had it for a week. If it would have been longer I was going to call my gynecologist.

My periods have been all over the place post-op. I had my first one immediately following surgery, even though I'd had one two weeks before. I've had them be super light, super heavy, and even last for two weeks! Even a few months out, it's still messing with my normally regularly scheduled occurrence. My gut says it's the WLS, but it never hurts to talk to a doctor anyway.

Mine started recovery so I know how you feel I was told that is very normal due to all the hormone changes our body is experiences. Only stay for a day or 2 and then came back 2 weeks later and stayed for 16 days. The good thing is it hasn't come back since and I'm 4 months post op. I gyn said this was very normal for nexplanon patients......

With the birth control that I'm on I don't get my period. I didn't have it since 2010 ... Then on 1/15 I was sleeved & when I woke up from surgery the CNA & Nurse were cleaning me up asking me if I had my period before surgery .. I said no.. They told me I had it... I was so pissed lol

Hopefully your experience will be similar to mine minus the 16 day flow.... My doctor seem to be very happy with my results and said that I probably will not have a period again until i take the nexplanon out. I do however think that it is slowing down my weight loss I feel like I have to work harder at it, but I'm okay with that.

Hormones and anesthesia can really mess with a woman's body. I have implanon too. Nothing for almost six months. Then the day I got home I got a visit from her too. She so does not play fair.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
