I have never heard of this and cannot think of a reason why that would be true. That being said, I could be wrong.

Did you have kids before or was it your first

I've had kids before. Even if it is your first, there is no physical or biological reason why you wouldn't have a successful vaginal delivery. Bariatric surgery has no bearing on how you deliver a child. Maybe there was something else involved that mandated a C section in the story that you heard?

Maybe this was true before having it done laparoscopic, just because of the weakened abdominal muscles after such a large incision. I don't see it being a problem now though.

I had two babies after my lap band surgery, and both were c-sections, though I don't think WLS had anything to do with it at all.

My first daughter was sideways, so after 23 hours of labor with her banging her sideways head on my pelvic bone, it was time for her to come out and quickly. Lol My second daughter we just scheduled a c-section because I felt comfortable just going that route again (I found the whole process really easy, minus the 23 hours of labor before lol). My second daughter was breech so it would have likely been a c-section anyway. But I don't believe WLS had any bearing on either delivery. :)

Hi there,

I've read that you are statistically more likely to have a c-section after weight loss surgery but they are not sure why they are finding this statistical connection if its the surgery or if its just that overweight women are more likely to have c-sections. It's just a general trend in obstetrics. There is no rule that says you can't have a normal vaginal delivery because you've had weight loss surgery, it will all depend on your medical circumstances at the time.

It's funny that you posted this question. I had a baby, 2 weeks ago-had gastric sleeve surgery in July of 2012....I had for children through vaginal delivery and my fifth child was a C section.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
