All of this is pretty traumatic, how is she doing emotionally?

Surprising she's doing pretty good. Has a few days when she's really discouraged but she's extremely strong and determined. I'm very proud of her ;). Thank you for asking ;)

I'm so sorry to hear about your daughters complications I also had similar complications after my surgery on jan 28 2013 I was admitted to hospital three times in two weeks the last time I was admitted I had three upper gi's and I was on tpn and they found I had a stricture because I could not hold anything down and they finally got my stricture taken care of by putting a tool and stretching it open, my doc said that if that didn't work he suggested the RNY and thank God it worked, so I went home on tpn thru nurses home care for 4 weeks, I had two picc lines but I started slow on liquids and today I'm 7 weeks out and I can tolerate chicken and fish no beef or pork but I'm doing much better and I hope the same for your daughter!

VST Addict. Thank you for the info. There are no strictures in my dtrs case. Shes had UGI's and they did an Endoscopy. She had surgery today and they removed her gall bladder. It was large and tense which means it needed removal. From losing so much weight so fast the gall bladder developed sludge. We're hoping for the bet ;)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
