I have mine scheduled for the 19th. I'm nervous though because I just had emergency gallbladder surgery on Friday. I jist got home today and have to call my surgeon tomorrow to see if it will delay my surgery. Everyone at the hospital said they didn't think it would but we will see.

I'm March 19th.... not sure I'm ready. Feel like I need to have time to "nest" at home like I did before I had my babies, but i haven't had time to do that yet. Getting nervous!

March 19th here also. I just finished day one of the pre-op diet. I'm hungry, maybe...or maybe it's just in my head.

I'm scheduled for the 19th but due to a "paper work" mix-up I was called and told it might not happen as it wasn't "officially" approved. I had all the testing done. Took the stress test today and about died... They told me it'll be read tomorrow and faxed in on Wed... THEN, they'll re submit for official approval... Please pray because after being told I was approved, then not approved, after everything, well, you know how I'm feeling. Will stay positive though... :-)

Your hunger is for real lol however takes solace in the fact that you only have to do two weeks I have had to do over 2 months, its killing me, I want a donut soooo bad!!! Lol hang in there. You wont be able to have the foods you want, but you will gain so much more.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
