It's been 3 weeks tomorrow and I have gone from 204 lbs to 191. Most if which I lost in the first week. Everyone keeps telling me they can see me losing weight but I don't see it. Why don't I see it? I have been really trying to do everything right. I was put in the hospital this past week for pancreatitis that they still don't know where that came from. I came home from that two days ago and had somehow gained 4 lbs! Which is ridiculous because I wasn't even allowed to eat or drink the whole time I was there. Back down to 191 now but I swear I have been stuck at this weight for what seems like 2 weeks. Frustrated.

Do a search for "week 3 stall" on the forums and you'll see that pretty much everyone has experienced a stall around... well... week 3. It's totally normal and as long as you stick to what you're supposed to do, this too shall pass.

Stalls are a part of the weight loss process and nothing to worry about. With as little caloric intake as we get, especially immediately after surgery, losing weight isn't really an option.

I am sure the weight gain from being re-hospitalized for the pancreatitis is from the IV fluids they pump you full of. And yes, there is a week 3 stall, pretty much everybody goes through it. Just stick with the program, keep doing what you are doing and it will work...I promise!

With a beginning weight of 204 you started with a low BMI which may result in a slower loss because you have less to lose. You've lost 13 pounds in 3 weeks!! That's not insignificant at all!! If you kept up that pace for a year you would literally disappear. Keep it up and stick to the program. You'll do great!

After I had surgery, I lost week that first week, and then did not lose a single pound for THREE WEEKS. I have no idea why but that is extremely common, but it suuuuuucks. Just keep going, follow the rules. It's way too soon to declare that you are a slow loser or anything like that. It will pass, I promise.

trust the process. You cannot maintain your weight with the amount of calories you are taking it. There is more than that at play here, which is why you might be stuck here for longer than you like, but just keep going.

Take pictures and take measurements. The scale doesn't always reflect what you are losing. Pictures and measurements will help you get a more accurate idea of your loss. This is why people can see a loss that your scale isn't showing -- your weight is redistributing itself.

I agree! the scale stopped moving for me and i'm 7weeks out, i lost fast the first 3 weeks and its the same weight for me now. But all my clothes are loose, i get teased at work I need to get new ones. I bought my first size Large top, and I used to wear 2xl. I can fit 14/16 and i used to wear 20 pants. So I guess, the weighing scale doesn't really tell the whole story. Although it would be nice to see it go down, ill take non scale victories too!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
