I heard that you shouldn't swim for at least 6 weeks, but ask your doctor

I am a mermaid, I had to wait 3 weeks b4 I could get back in the Water, but yes, call the office.

I had the same time frame on vacation, had surgery 1 mo. prior to vacation. I hope u will have access to a kitchen. I was just coming off puréed foods but other than that I was GOOD.

Hi I live in Florida and my doctor said no swimming or hot tubs for 6 weeks. I just went to Ohio for 3 days and it was tough. I had to buy Protein Drinks cottage cheese string cheese and yogurt at the grocery store that i kept in a fridge and ate an egg for Breakfast. I forgot to take my omeprazole when I was gone too. I'm 4 weeks post op today. plan accordingly. Other then that I did fine. What part of Florida are you coming to? If you are in the Ft. Myers area I will meet up with you! :)

I just had my one week follow up today and was told I can't swim for a month until my incision is completely healed. I'm dying to get back in the pool, but I don't want my incision to have any problems.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
