Taradawn15 148 Posted March 4, 2013 Not sure where to post this at, I'm confused with how many calories I need. I use the my fitness pal app and it adds the calories I've burned to my daily intake. I can not even get to my normal daily intake let alone eat all these extra calories I've burned. However since I've upped my exercise I've been getting dizzy and light headed and am pretty sure in need to add in more calories to my diet, however it doesnt seem right to eat all the calories ive just worked so hard to burn off. i can't get in to see my doc till the first week of April so I was hoping maybe someone here could help. Just want to make sure I'm not hurting my body and doing what's healthiest.
freethinker 6 Posted March 4, 2013 Could you speak to the office NUT about it? How many calories are you getting in?
Taradawn15 148 Posted March 4, 2013 I have to get a referral from my doc to go back to the nutritionist. I can't see him for a month, my normal food intake is between 800 and 900 calories a day. Normally very high in Protein also. I also drink a lot of Water so I know it's not dehydration. I excersice 4 to 5 days a week for about an hour and a half. Threetimesacharm 1,400 Posted March 4, 2013 Sounds to me like you are right on track. I never eat 900 calories, I average 700-800 daily and exercise from 1-1 1/2 hours per day. You may have an electrolyte or Vitamin imbalance. I would get this checked out, do you take Vitamins, B12, Calcium, Iron?
Taradawn15 148 Posted March 4, 2013 I do take Vitamins. I may need to take more though. I only take a multi with Iron, a B complex, and a Calcium with D. If you have any suggestions on other ones let me know. Thanks
akirk 20 Posted March 4, 2013 I have had this same problem due to lack of calorie intake however I am only getting between 250 and 400 calories a day. This is not the norm for most post-op sleeve patients. I actually had to have an EGD to stretch out some of my sleeve because it was so narrow. But I get light headed and nauseous a lot when I work out because I am not getting enough calories. My doctor actually told me to only do light intensity exercise (like walking and going really slow on elliptical). Does your office have a triage nurse? Mine does and that is who I have talked to a lot. If you are having issues you let her know and she in turn talks to the surgeon to work out the issue. They actually worked me in the next day after I talked to her.
