ortega07 59 Posted March 3, 2013 I am 2 months and a week post op. I really am able to eat anything and that's scary. I can't eat huge amounts but its still of concern. I've lost 36 so far. I haven't really been committed to the gym. Which needs to happen but I'm afraid ill have to work out for 2-3 hours etc to lose the rest (as if I didn't get the sleeve). This wasn't and isn't easy but I'm afraid I really need to do workouts like on the biggest loser! Help !!! Sent from my iPhone using VST
AliveAgain 283 Posted March 3, 2013 When you say "I really am able to eat anything" what does that mean? Are you measuring and tracking your food, Protein, carbs, liquids? Seems like you're making great progress at 36 pounds lost, not sure the reason for worry. It will be good for you to have exercise as a normal part of your routine. It's good for weight loss, to a point, but should be used more for health, endurance, toning your muscle and balance. You don't have to go to the gym, even just walking 30-60 minutes 3-4 days a week will help you. It's what I did most for the first 2-3 months, then I got with a trainer to be sure I didn't hurt myself. The sleeve is a tool, it's not going to keep you from eating junk. Your food choices and amounts are still up to you. It keeps us from sitting down and eating a large popcorn and large soda at the movies, sure. The volume is contained to a certain point, but the rest is on us to make smart choices. Best of luck!
sleever10 109 Posted March 3, 2013 No need for BL-style workouts. If you can do a mix of cardio and strength training for 45 minutes most days of the week you're golden.
johnlatte 1,232 Posted March 3, 2013 The sleeve alone will not get you to goal. Just like taking off the weight the old fashioned way, the better physical condition you are in, the better your weight loss is going to be. I don't watch the Biggest Loser so I have no clue what they do, but a healthy regiment of exercise (at least 30-60mins a day) and a balance diet using the sleeve as a way to control portions, is the key successors to making the sleeve work for you. As AliveAgain has pointed out, the sleeve is only a tool. If you don't work the plan and plan the work, it won't do everything you want it to.
FishingNurse 1,211 Posted March 3, 2013 I could also eat anything early on (where I got my name sleeve of steel!) But I had good restriction. I made my goal, and have maintained for a year +/- 5 pounds. So just cause you can eat anything doesn't mean you wont be successful! Are you worried about portion sizes? Try to pick a Protein goal and calorie goal and stick with it-- that's all I have done! you can do this!
