angelal1213 8 Posted March 3, 2013 When did everyone start working out like in a gym? I'm 3 weeks post op.
TES 858 Posted March 3, 2013 You should go with your surgeon's advice. Mine says walking is fine from the beginning, Water walking within a couple of weeks if you are scabbed and cover with a waterproof bandage. We are told to wait 6 to 8 weeks for organized exercise classes, including water aerobics (which I really miss!). Can't wait to get the all-clear but don't want to pull out stitches prematurely or rip muscle. Walking is one of the best exercises you can do, though! You might need to wait longer to do light strength training--I would go with the advice of your surgeon's office.
delta_girl 931 Posted March 3, 2013 My surgeon told me that he provided NO RESTRICTIONS. That means that after surgery, there are no restrictions. Immediately resume normal activities. Drive, go back to work, exercise. The ONLY accommodations dealt with nutrition. But you need to follow whatever your surgeon told you. I was back at work within 5 days post op and resumed all normal activities.
