Well I am sitting in bed at the Marriott and can't wait till tomorrow is over. I had a very delicious bowl of chicken broth and coffee for dinner. We head over to the Hospital tomorrow at 11:00. Ready to be done and over, but other than that I am just fine. Thank you for asking! :)

I am good! I had a delicious bowl of chicken broth for dinner at the Marriott. Now I am relaxing in my room with my Hubby. Tomorrow we leave at 11 to go to the hospital, and I am ready to get the show on the road. Thank you for asking!

I have a drain' date=' so I'm pretty sure that's where the juices would go. Ew, juices.

Yes, they check both sides for reasons mentioned above.

I just asked before, if he could take a pic. I have some of it being cut and my sleeve too. Those will have to wait.

And Laura, shame on you, blasting mx surgeries!! :P[/quote']

How does the drain work and how do they take it out with our cutting u up again could u post a pic or some post a pic of how the drain looks

I will show you, but try not to be too grossed out. It's not as horrible as it looks. It only hurt once in a while (bending, sneezing, etc.), and it was painless when it was removed. The surgeon removed it about two weeks after my surgery. I didn't even have to lay on the bed. He clipped the stitch holding it in place, wrapped some paper towels around the exposed part of the tube, and pulled it gently until it was all out. He told me I'd have to clean inside of it with peroxide and a q-tip until it closed up, which did not sound exciting to me. However, I went to clean it the next morning, and it had already closed up. Whew! Was so glad to be off the hook with that one.

Oh, and the tube that is outside of you is about a foot long and there is a rubber bulb at the end that is about the size and shape of a large lemon. I had to open the top and empty it twice a day by squeezing it into a plastic cup they gave me that would measure the drainage in cc's. Then you squeeze the bulb and close the top, so that there's a little suction in the tube. When I was in the hospital, they kept the bulb safety pinned to the inside of my hospital gown. At home I did the same and kept it pinned to my shirt.

Ugh. It is so frustrating getting pictures to display on this site. Here's a link to it in my gallery: http://www.verticals...17416-img-2224/

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
