4days out of surgery

Recommended Posts

What's the average you can drink of liquids throughout the day? I feel like I'm sipping all day.

I took the clear Protein drinks and split it between 3 Water bottles and stuck those in the freezer. The next morning I pull one out and fill the rest of the bottle with Water and sip on that. It gets in the fluids and Protein. Also the drink is gross so when it's super cold and watered down it's better. This kills two birds with one stone

Sip all night too. I couldn't seem to get rehydrated until I started keeping Water by my bed. I keep a 24 oz bottle by my bed. (3oz x 8hrs).

Just remember that you don't eat and drink at the same time. It's not an important distinction today, but it's coming soon. Try to think of nutritious liquids as food. Then Water is for thirst. That might help with the feeling you are "sipping all day". (My surgery was almost 3 weeks ago.)

I was sleeved march 2nd. I am four days out. Today I've managed 1 packet of unjury chicken Soup flavored Protein powder in 16oz of Water. One Isopure bottle and a can of beef broth and one Popsicle. I think sipping all day is in our future. Oh and a little grap juice. I'm stressed out making sure I get it all in.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
