Favorite post op drink?

Recommended Posts

What is your favorite post op liquid? You know, the one that you can drink all day and not be sick of the flavor. I finally found a good one. I like to drink Desani Pink Lemondade mixed with Water and had my wife buy out the supply at the grocery store the other day. How about you?

I love the Ocean Spray Cran-Cherry Limeade flavor packets! Very good! I haven't tried the Dasani....

I am a sucker for Celestial Seasonings blueberry tea or berry zinger tea. I also just discovered that Lipton is now making a diet green tea without that awful citrus flavor. Granted, they're still sweetening the green tea (which ruins the taste) but it's not bad if I pretend it's not real green tea.

I gotta try that because I have tried almost everything else and can't get passed the after taste.

Best one I have like out the of bunch was also pink lemonade, although it was crystal light brand.

Tried the costco green tea from Lipton and it seems to have the aftertaste in my mouth. That was during month 3. Maybe it will taste better now that Water in general is tasting better now for me.

Yes, agree. A lot of Water enhancers out there have a bad aftertaste. For me that has been crystal light and Mio. They may taste ok at first, but then really get weird if drinking them all day. Ocean spray is pretty good. Desani is the only one I have found I can tolerate drink after drink during the day. However, I am looking for other alternatives. Hence, the motivation behind this post. There is also another Desani I like that is pineapple / coconut flavor ( like a piña colada). However, be warned: I have found that Desani strawberry kiwi gets to me after a while as too sticky syrupy. The pink lemonade is actually very clean tasting and refreshing.

Yes, I like those on occasions when I want the extra energy from the added caffeine. I can't drink them all day though. I am thinking about the Mio energy flavors with electrolytes and caffeine. Are those the ones you are talking about?

I buy the electrolyte enhanced Water, like smart water from costco and then add any flavor MIO.

I have never seen the desani brand where I shop... were are you buying them from. I have also heard good things about the pineapple/coconut flavor in another thread.

Anything that tastes like pina colada can't be all bad!

I buy them from Target, not sure where you would find them in Canada. If you cannot find them at a grocery store, drive down to Bellingham, WA for some or order online at Amazon.< /p>

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
