LovinMe2013 21 Posted March 3, 2013 I take a 500 mg calcium citrate chewable 2 times per day. My stomach feels gassy & nauseated after I take it. Is this normal?
joatsaint 2,814 Posted March 3, 2013 I always eat a little bit before taking mine. I've never felt gassy. But you might check to see if it is sweetened with sugar alcohols or sucralose. Both of those sweeteners cause me cramps and gas bubbles.
No game 14,437 Posted March 3, 2013 What kind do you take are they soft chews? If so are there sugar alcohols in them or dairy? Maybe that's it?

No game 14,437 Posted March 3, 2013 They have sorbitol and xylitol... I just copied this but you really aren't taking in to much so your body might get used to it. Mine did when taking a product with these in it both xylitol and sorbitol can irritate the digestive tract and cause general discomfort in the abdomen. Gas, bloating, cramps, and nausea are possible side effects. These symptoms can vary in severity according to a person's age and health and the amount of sweetener consumed.
