How much do we eat with mushies??

Recommended Posts

You should eat until you're satisfied, not full. I think of it this way, if you practice your good bandster habits like pausing between bites and you realize that you aren't really needing the next bite then you're probably satisfied and can stop.

Unless your doctor specifically recommends a certain amount of food then you probably don't really need to worry about measuring or limiting yourself to any certain amount. Just follow the rules: slow eating, no liquids w/ meals etc. and then add listening to your body and you'll begin to naturally learn what the right amount is for you.

Hummmm, I am not eating mushies yet but I was told only 2oz at one time. I wonder why different doctors say different things. I would call mine if it were me. Cause I think they all have thier reasons for having the guidelines they do!

Hi Jacckye!

Doing great surgery wise...it did however bring out my MS symptoms that I had managed to vanish for five years!!! I hope to get back to normal soon!! I will be starting on real mushies today... I will combine mushies with Protein drinks. I bought some baby food to take to work...appplesauce moslty. sugar free pudding, and mashed poattoes and seet potatoes to help ease me through Thnaksgiving. I am on Klonopin right no9w to help with my spasms so I am a bit sleepy and I work tomorrow!!! I hope I can do it! Glad you are well! I have lost 11 pounds!! For me that is awesome! I just have to incorporate all the supplements I was taking pre band so I can get back to my normal no symptom self.

Texas Cutie.....the liquids don't stay in the pouch, sweetie....they just dribble right on through to next chamber and on to greater things - like building muscles and bones!!

If your fill doctor uses a flouroscope after the fill to see how tight you are, you can watch the liquid just run right down the esophagus and into the pouch and outta the pouch into the stomach. It's a neat thing to see...really surprised me to see how fast it traveled.

Every doctor/surgeon is different on this one, just like most other things lol.

I was wondering the same thing, as I started mushies today after having a revision surgery two weeks ago. Felt kind of stupid calling as I've done this all before and I should know the answer that mine would give me, but called to double check when I couldn't find it in the paperwork.

So for me, its eat until you feel satiated (not stuffed). They said that they wouldn't give me a exact amount, cause half a cup or one cup or whatever, may not make me full .. or it may make me too full. Just eat until I was no longer 'hungry'. That works for me *shrugs*.

Last time around, one of the hardest things for me was learning the difference between no longer being hungry and being full. Just like alot of other people out there, prebanding, I ate until I hurt quite often. So finding that fine line was difficult. The easiest way for me to do it, was to make sure I really slowed down and took very small bites (ie, if I'm eating with a teaspoon, I may only eat 1/4 of the teaspoon with each bite). My meals last like 30 minutes or more sometimes, just cause I drag it out that long .. but its worked (or it did with the last band). Let's just hope I can use the same common sense this time around lol.

Yes I did see the radiology pics of the liquid going through. It was the day of surgery though so there was lots of swelling and it just trickled. As the swelling goes down more and more it is getting easier to drink the full Protein shakes. I can take larger sips now than I could last week.

Makes it easier to get all of this Water down with the shakes. I am still not on food and will probably not be for a couple more weeks I suspect by then the swelling will be all the way down. If I keep loosing I will not get a fill until after the 1st as we are going out of state and I want to not have any probs in small town USA!

Thanks for the info!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
