But I hate exercising!

Recommended Posts

I have found the more weight i lose, the more active i feel like being. I don't "exercise" I participate in "physical activities that i enjoy" such as horseback riding, walking nature trails, etc

The band helped get weight off quickly so that i felt like being more active, the less my knees and back hurt, the more active i became, the more weight i lost, and it sort of just snowballs...the lapband gives you that kick start.

I figured the only way to be sure to excercise is to make it fun. So.......I bought a trampoline. Yes, you heard right! Not a big giant one, but a personal sized one. I may look a little foolish; but it will be 'fun'...I could do that!!!:phanvan

This is going to sound weird, but I gotta say that right now I *dont'* hate exercising. I think I might even *like* it. What made the difference was music. Load up an iPod with really great, feel good music! I also do this little mind trick. Whenever I drive by my gym, I look over at it, smile, and say (and try to mean it!): "I LOVE that place." I know that probably sounds silly, but it seems to be working. I try to take the strength training slowly, enough to feel a little tenderness between workouts (so I know I'm improving), but not so much that I don't want to go back because I can barely lift my arms! Slow and steady...

I truly envy and admire those folks I see jogging every day, at home, at work, whereever. They get a 'runners high'. I would love to feel what they're talking about. How come these folks don't make excuses? Why do they have the time that i don't? I hope that the weight that will be coming off will increase my energy level enough to get me into a routine. :)

I also bought a dance tape to do at home. I always wanted to learn how to salsa and it is called Core Rhythms. It is from some people who were on "Dancing with the stars". It is really fun and doesn't feel like exercise. I can't wait to start up again next week! Audree

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
