Hi everyone,

My name is Chevonne. I just had the sleeve done on Feb 26th. I'm a bit scared because I'm trapped between being excited, and "omg what did I just do". I want support, meal and exercise tips , and offer any where I may be helpful. I'n deathly afraid of becoming overly flabby. I went on the table at 399 lbs. my highest weight ever was 404 lbs. i am currently 4 days post op and have no idea where to begin. Well that is the start of my journey and my story!

I remember this same feeling. I had my surgery almost a year ago on April 24,2012. I was scared to death and excited at the same time. I hit the scale at my highest weight was 414, and after 6 mos of a supervised weight loss program I was ready for surgery. Weighing in at 378 day of surgery. A couple days after surgery are the hardest because you have buyers remorse a little bit. The hardest part is getting though those 2 weeks when your on all liquids. Hang in there it gets better and when you see the pounds flying off you will know you made the right decision.

I guess I kind of feel like I'm going through this alone. The support system I thought I would have is not there, so I feel down

I am also new; sleeved Feb 25th, 2013. At one week appointment today, I am down 13 pounds and now weigh 276. I was 289 on the table; 306 at first surgeon appointment.

Just remember all the hoops you jumped through to get to this point. Keep the fluids going down. DO NOT get dehydated. The first week is hard, as I was tired of the liquids and wanted to move on. Self-discipline is the name of the game now. Follow the instructions from your program. Looks like lots of support here, which we can all benefit from. Best of luck... and wisdom to you!!

Hi there, I'm a newbie too! Just met with surgeon yesterday and will have surgery on March 28th. I'm excited, and wondering if I should be scared or more inquisitive! My biggest fear right now is the recovery. How long most people are off of work vs the 5 or so days they Dr office says is the norm.

I also read that I can't drive for 2 weeks. ugh!

liquid diet will be a challenge. But a great excuse to eat alot of popsicles!

Has anyone ever had to stay overnight in hospital for this procedure?

Knowing that I have to start pre-op diet on 23rd, every day until then will be treated like my last meal!

Good luck to you :)

Hi Chevonne,

I was sleeved the 25th just the day before you. It has been difficult these past few days but we have to remember why we did this! In order to change your body, you must change your mind and soul. You can't cure your new body with your old mind it just want work. Remember this is just a brief moment in our journey and the outcome will be well worth it.

Eating for me has been the thing that comforted me but I now will find comfort in eating heathy and the compliments I'm going to receive instead of the looks of judgement. This hasn't been easy nor should it be, nothing worth working for ever is. Keep telling yourself that and even when you don't believe it say it anyway. Put pics up of what you want to look like, be like and feel like and look at it daily. And lastly visit YouTube and look at stories if those going through it now and those that have come out on the other side fit and healthy for encouragement. Here are a few I watch and subscribed to: bandedwendy, pwls works, nikmac, and ghrenlinbgone. These are all women and men who have recorded their journey or are going through currently just like you and I. I hope this helps and remember to change your body you have to change your mind! Keep up the hard work it's worth it!!!!!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
