I have been banded for 18 months. have reached my goal weightand have had only a few complications. But, a week ago I was out to eat with my daughter and I got a terrible pain in my left side under my rib:omg: . It was so bas that I thought that I would have to stop the car and wait for it to calm down. I went on liquids for 2 days and then It happened again. This time I HAD JUST BEEN EATING WITH MY HUSBAND AND ABOUT 15 MINUTES AFTER WE FINISHED THE PAIN HIT. I WAS DOUBLED OVER. I MADE IT HOME AND PUT A HOT PAD ON MY STOMACH. aFTER ABOUT 45 MIN. MY BACK LOWER BACK WAS HURTING SO I SHIFTED TO MY SIDE AND THE PAIN WENT AWAY. i HAVE A DULL PAIN IN MY SIDE THAT HAS SEEMED TO GET BETTER. i HAVE BEEN ON LIQUIDS AND SOFT FOODS FOR 3 DAYS. I AM REALLY SCARED THAT SOMETHING IS REALLY WRONG. hAS ANYONE HAD SUCH A PAIN? i HAVE BEEN STUCK WHERE i HAVE THROWN UP AND SLIMED. I've heard that gall bladder pain can be pretty bad. Have you called your doctor? It comes from when gallstones are stuck in a duct and can be brought on by certain kinds of foods.

Call your doctor!! Having gallstones is a common side effect of significant weight loss, and many end up having to have their gall bladders removed. Good luck, and I hope it's nothing serious!!

Doesn't sound band related to me, but as Alexandra mentioned, do call your doctor.

My mother gets gallbladder attacks, and they bring a referred pain... meaning the pain she feels isn't where the problem is. Her gallbladder attacks have her grabbing her left side, right udner her rib cage, so there's potential similarity there.

She's pretty much immobilized when they hit. She can't even get up to go lay down. They last several minutes, and tend to leave her feeling like she's been kicked when they're over with.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
