HOW DID EVERYONE FEEL 2.5 WEEKS OUT?

Recommended Posts

The Reason I ask is because I will be going to see family in Texas and North Carolina and I want to know whether or not I should book the trips

I felt tired to the point of exhaustion. Still dealing with the shock to the system of so few calories at that point. Extra rest was a must. It took all my effort to reach my Fluid and nutritional goals. Pain was completely tolerable and pretty much gone. It was an emotional time as my hormones were all over the place. And just seeing food or food commercials would almost make me cry. I never doubted my decision, but I would have found it hard to travel!

You will be on a full liquid diet likely at that point and focusing on getting in your Water which is harder than you could possibly imagine! 64 oz is not easy!

I'm just hitting 3 weeks out. For me there's occasional twinges. I'm still under a lifting restriction so nothing over about 10 lbs (that varies by docs between 10 - 20lbs). So no suitcases in the overhead.

I tire more easily. I've started back into the office the beginning of the third week and even doing a desk job haven't really been at work a full day yet. I really don't want to be around food and/or others eating and can't imagine going out to a restaurant.

I'm not saying don't go, but it may be iffy and you'd definitely need to pack Protein Shakes (you can do powder packets and a shaker bottle). But, you won't be sitting down to a family meal.

Some folks have a more difficult recovery period. Mine has been ridiculously easy but not even as easier as others!

Oh - and no pool/ocean or getting into Water for at least 3 - 4 weeks post surgery.

I was back at work by week 2. I was tired and lethargic, but no pain or anything.

I was exhausted at 2 1/2 weeks, but I still went places and did some things. I agree with the others, it's a full time job getting in Protein and fluids. You didn't mention how you are planning to travel, but that's also a factor. I wouldn't want to ride in a car (or plane) for too long, since so soon after surgery blood clots could still be a risk. Also, it depends on what you plan to do when you get there. If you can go and just hang out with family and can be comfortable staying wherever you are, then I'd probably try to go, even knowing how bad I felt.

I was lucky and back to normal within a few days. Of course, I wasn't permitted to lift, but other than that I was up and living normal. No problem with foods phases, Water, and spent my time off traveling, Christmas shopping and enjoying everyday. Eventually, I got bored and went back to work early. Hope the same for you :)

ok.. i have not had surgery but i was at the last support group and someone asked about traveling.. what they were told is you can't fly for a certain amount of time afterwards because of the possibility of blood clots forming after surgery.. please check with your doctor before making plans... you may feel good enough to go on the trip but it might not be wise because of the clotting factor.. stay safe!

Best of luck to you!

I am exactly 2 1/2 weeks out now. Except for my largest incision still feeling like the internal sutures are pulling and stinging when I move around too much, I'm feeling good. I'm on soft foods, not having any trouble getting liquids down, and eating 1/2 - 1 c of soft food ( i.e. cottage cheese, scrambled eggs, hummus) depending on how thick it is. Eating a total of 800 - 1000 calories a day and 70-90 g of Protein.< /p>

I was sleeved on 11/20 and on 12/1 flew from NC to New Mexico. Didn't have any problems and my surgeon ok'd it. Had one bout of low blood sugar, but stopped at a target and got a 4 pack of EAS Protein Drinks and took care of that. Didn't have a ton of energy, but got through it pretty well.

I'm really hoping I'm one of those that have an easy recovery. I am going to travel to CO by plane exactly 2 weeks after my surgery. My sisters getting married, so the trips been planned for awhile. My Dr. thinks I'll be fine that far out, he says people fly in for surgery and fly out within a few days. I'll just be getting to soft foods so I'm sure that will be a challenge, but I'm staying with family so that should make it easier. I wasn't going to postpone the surgery (I've waited long enough) and I'm certainly not missing my sisters wedding!! So I'm going on faith that I'm going to be good!!!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
