So I'm 7.5 months out, and I feel like I can eat like a normal non-sleeved person on some days. Example: Today I treated myself to Dunkin Donuts, and I was able to eat a whole boston creme without discomfort. But yesterday, two bites of everything I ate filled me up. Has anyone experienced this? Or is my sleeve stretching.

Donuts are probably considered a slider food. I would avoid donut shops like the plague. As for being filled up the next day, perhaps you were eating more sensibly. Look at the actual food you were eating on the donut day and on the other day. That might help you figure it out.

How many ounces would you say is "like a non sleeve person?" At 7.5 months as well, my maximum Protein is about 5 ounces. I try and eat 1-2 ounces of veggies on top of this, but always get a stuck feeling. So I tend to stick with 3 ounces of Protein if I am going to eat the veggies. For example, today I have 3 ounces of chicken patty and 2 ounces of edamame salad (delish and from SAMs club) for lunch. Just the right amount. I have not really tested my eating amounts with food like donuts or other snack foods so am unable to offer anecdotal experiences. I can drink a ton of Water. Restriction does not really hit when drinking Water or Protein shake unless I do something crazy like drink 32 ounces in 32 seconds, which I am not about to do. However, I can finish off 32 ounces in 5-10 min and ready for more.

Lol me too but after months of only being able to eat 3oz max, it seems like a lot to me.

OMG

a whole donut (boston creme????)

tell me its not so????

people have been shot for less

in "excitement" (and i don't blame you) of eating the donut - you might have eaten it too fast

so you didn't have time to feel that restriction :(if you must have a donut - have a plain one

i've done that before ;)

now, back to "your normal" self, you are eating properly, slowly - then realize you can only eat "X" amount

work hard/concentrate on only eating very slowly, then you should feel your restriction again

at 7 1/2 months PO - maybe not as much restriction though?? :(

but, if you only put the proper "X" amount on your plate - then you won't realize you can eat more :)

no profile - ticker???

come on, show us your stuff!!!

starting weight, present weight et al

inquiring minds want to know :)

and ProudGrammy is nosey

I'm just like you Deltagirl! Some days I could eat all day, others a few bites of this and yogurt and I'm good! Carbs are the devil, tho! I'm struggling because meats and veggies must be chewed til vaporized, yet a cookie or something else made of sugar and flour goes down just fine! that's why I got to be close to 300 pounds-I love cake and cookies! I try to only purchase low fat/high Fiber treats (like Fiber 1 brownies) so I get my fix without over doing it. But like you said, one day the brownie hits the spot, the next day I want to eat 3 (but don't!). Every day is a new challenge but as long as the results, however slow they may be, do happen-it's all good! 

I guess it all averages out.

But with 30+ more lbs to go my weight loss has absolutely slowed down after 5 months. My surgeon, who is VERY STRICT, has been supportive and not critical of my loss so far.

I am not as compliant as I should be. If I want some chocolate I eat it, though it may not be much. If I want wine, I drink it. If I feel especially hungry, I eat until I am not hungry anymore.

But I do try to be relatively conscious of what I eat. I don't eat fried foods. I don't drink carbonated beverages. I rarely eat foods that have much fat. I do eat bread, crackers, rice, etc. when I want, just not much.

I envy others who are much more disciplined.

If I have lost around 65 lbs in 4.5 months and only have 30+ to go, I am guessing that I will continue to lose, just more slowly. And I'm very good with that.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
