Also I have a suggestion, and this is not meant to scare off anyone contemplating this surgery.

Because you are probably going to die - why not have your wake before surgery, so you can attend?

It has a few advantages. It gave me the opportunity to tell everyone what I thought of them one last time.

And I got to have the definition of a 'food funeral'.

One thing I must say, because I hadn't told anyone I was having the procedure, nobody knew why the **** they were there.

I'm really SICK of all the negativity on the board, we come here for support and all we hear is negativity from all you all that think you are perfect. I am going just delete my account if things don't brighten up RIGHT now. I may even have to eat a cookie. I mean really, you all are just mean people and just sit there and judge the rest of us, because we are not as perfect as you all are......hurmph....stomp stomp stomp..... :P

Lets add to the thread that only crazy people would go to Mexico for surgery... and I just want to know is it okay if I do shots of tequila in the recovery room or should I wait until I'm back in my room? You know, cuz it's a clear liquid.< /p>

Personally I go to Kroger & sample the fish, the cheese, the mushroom, olive & hummus bar. Swing by the bakery for a tiny crumb of cookie.

I am not ashamed to say that in the process I realized I had to pee and I knocked a small toddler crying over a toy down & shoved an old man blocking the aisle looking at preparation H.

True story.

You're in Mexico. If you can't IV the tequila and have tacos in recovery, what's the point??

Oh hell that made my sleeve hurt just thinking about trying that in recovery.....

Next I'm going to whole foods and getting those little sample cups and go a round the pre made area and have lunch! That place has had enough of my money!!!

When you say 'shoved an old man' do you mean you helped him apply the prep h??

The class in the group is simply uplifting. I'd raise a glass to you all, but I quit drinking because I am more committed than the rest of you....

Would certainly cut down on the grocery tab....maybe you should cut some coupons out too to see if you can turn a profit?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
