Hello everyone here's my story!!!

So I went to Mexico, TJ to have my gastric sleeve done on 2-23-2013. Was sleeved on the 23rd!! Yes same day as surgery! I will tell you I went to Dr. Fernando Gracia!

The coordinator told me that the doctor said because my bmi isn't so high I can eat light the night before and drink till 8 am the day of surgery!

Well well I ate only Grandma Cookies the day before! chocolate fudge ones and I sure enjoyed it。the day prior 2 that I only had Jamba Juice! I would've ate more but my friend that had the sleeve done two months before me suggested me not too! Advised if I wanted a smooth surgery to not eat! So let me tell you about the surgery....

i went under afternoon and was in my room about 2 hours later. i WON'T LIE THE FIRST NIGHT WAS A BIT PAINFUL.... PAINFUL AS IN SORE STOMACH AND FROM A 1 - 10 I WAS IN 4. SO IT IS PRETTY BARE-ABLE. I DIDN;T sleep WELL THAT NIGHT. MAJOR BOTHER OF MINE WAS THE IV..... OMG MY POOR RIGHT HAND WAS SO SWOLLEN WHEN I HAD LEFT THE HOSPITAL.... AND FOR ANOTHER 2 DAYS NOW IT IS JUST DIEING DOWN. WELL. SURGERY IN MEXICO TURNED OUT TO BE A LOT BETTER THAN I THOUGHT. THE GROUP THAT I WAS WITH WAS REAL SUPPORTIVE AS WELL. THROUGH OUT THE NIGHT THE NURSES WHERE CONSTANTLY GIVING ME MEDICATION SO I DON'T FEEL PAIN. Post op 5 days my sore ness is GONE! Well out of 100% its 30% around. I am actually feeling hungry more than anything. anyhow i will finish up my story in abit

----Major FEAR OF MINE IS HAVING A LEAK GOD FOR BID.

THOUGH THEY DID RUN 3 TESTS ON ME WHILE IN MEXICO AND NO LEAK. YOU JUST NEVER KNOW.

about weight: SW: 253 LBS.

POST OP DAY 5- 248;LBS.

CONGRATS TO ME I AM 5 LBS LESS.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
