Jmbaker24 4 Posted February 28, 2013 I'm day 4 postoperative and having trouble getting my fluids in! My urine is dark today, think I'm getting dehydrated? But can't take any more than I already am, what do I do?
MrsG 329 Posted February 28, 2013 I was one of the lucky ones that had no problem getting in their fluids daily and my urine was still dark for the first few weeks. Do your very best and just keep sipping, keep a bottle of Water with you at all times. I drank Water, hot tea and chicken broth. Try not to get dehydrated, this forum has some threads of ppl getting dehydrated and it does not sound fun at all! Good luck!
T'snewstart 251 Posted February 28, 2013 I honestly struggled with this.... I actually had one of those kitchen timers and set it for every 15 minutes and drank a one ounce cup..... I know it's hard .... It is a must to get as much in as possible.... I promise it does get easier..... The first few weeks are the hardest....
MrsGina 101 Posted February 28, 2013 I had to go to hospital to get rehydrated, it took 3 hours and 2 bags to do the trick. I sure felt better though. First I tried just ice Water, made me sicker, then after rehydrating I started drinking poweraide zero watered down, room temp. That helped a lot. Now I can tolerate ice again and am doing much better. 7 weeks out.
Bunnydee 40 Posted February 28, 2013 I understand. Well I would eat the SF popsicles all day and SF Power Aid, that seemed to really help. good luck.

erp 2,016 Posted February 28, 2013 Experiment with the temperature, consistency, and flavor. I get slightly flavored room temp Water down the best. I am a week out and just now getting most of my water in.
akirk 20 Posted February 28, 2013 My doctor suggested getting medicine cups (which hold about 30 mLs) and to sip sip sip. About 4 medicine cups per hour. But make sure you listen to your body... dehydration can be very dangerous and you need to seek prompt medical attention if you begin to feel worse.
