Starting purees Monday! Two questions.

Recommended Posts

Hey, Sleevers! It has been one long month of liquids and I am really excited about starting purees on Monday. I am a little nervous at the same time, though, and want to ask a couple of questions. Did it feel strange the first time you ate something solid? I'm scared it's going to hurt or something. Granted, by solid I mean mushy, but it still something much more dense than the Protein Shakes I've been drinking. I've had a nearly ideal surgery experience from beginning to end. Little pain, zero gas pain at the hospital, tolerated all of my liquids, etc. The only instances of nausea I had were medication or dehydration related. So, I have every reason to believe that my body has just handled this transition well and I can hope it continues on to food.< /p>

Also, I'm curious about cheese. Do most people tolerate that okay? My approved list of food's is fairly small. I'm okay with that, because I'm all for keeping it simple this early. I'm going to stick to eggs, tuna, chicken... stuff like that to see how it goes.

I had a few stomach grumblings for a few weeks when I tried to eat very very finely shredded chicken, but it was only with canned chicken. If I cooked and food processored my own chicken, no problems. And I had no problems with cheese or eggs.< /p>

I just started purees. My biggest challenge by far has been eating slow enough. I started with pureed refried Beans and they are ok if I eat them slow. Adding sour cream for extra "lube" helps too. I tried to get fancy by adding a little cheese and my sleeve did not like that, so I'll wait a few days before trying that again. Today I thinned out some mashed potatoes and so far that, apple sauce, and greek yogurt go down the easiest. Start with small portions, stop if it hurts. So far I eat about 1/4 cup of beans or potatoes. Enjoy!

What really helps me to eat slowly is eating with a baby food spoon. My NUT suggested it.... and it really works to pace yourself. She also said that each bite of food should be the size of a pencil eraser! Really helps though.

I have been good so far with yogurt, eggs, cheese, refried Beans, I tried cooked chicken thighs yesterday and my stomach hurt for 4 hours, so won't try that again, think its probably like trial and error, some things no issues other, ouch. measure food helps, I use 1/4 cup, eat slowly, when I rush I feel it. I switch to soft foods on sunday and going to try salmon and mashpotatoes. :)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
