Dallas sleevers- Forest Park or Baylor Trophy Club?

Recommended Posts

I live in Grand Prairie and I've been seeing Dr. Kim for a band to sleeve revision. He does surgery at both hospitals so I would love to hear feedback on your experiences. Both hospitals are a drive for me so its not a matter of which is most convenient, although I work just down 75 from FP so I know my way around that area better.

I had my EGD at FP today and every nurse and doctor I saw was so exceptionally friendly and made me feel so comfortable. I had been thinking I would go to Baylor for surgery but now I'm not so sure..lol!!

I know nothing about the Baylor facility, I'm sure it's nice, but I do know about Forest Park, it was wonderful. I tell people that it was like the Ritz Carlton of hospitals.

Small private facility, very good care, nurses are very attentive. I have no complaints at all from start to finish....on top of the personel, it's a beautiful hospital.

I had mine done at Baylor Trophy Club and it is just as the poster above said Foest Park was, small, private facility, nurses were very attentive, everyone was top-notch and very nice not only to me but to my mom and husband too! They had almost gourmet meals for my family that was there with me and I think there were only like three other people on my floor the night I was there after surgery.

I don't think you can go wrong picking either hospital, or Dr. Kim for that matter! I'm 5 months out and after reading on VST, Dr. Kim and his staff seem to prepare us very well and give us lots of information to be successful!

I had my surgery at Forest Park, and it was very nice! I ended up with a VIP room that included a separate suite with a TV and couch/bed so my family could stay occupied while I rested. I slept all night both nights unless they were taking vitals every 2-4 hrs. Nurses were decent- some more attentive than others.

I had my EGD at Baylor TC and my surgery at FP. Dr. Kim is also my surgeon he is great! Both hospitals are great, very informative on everthing that will happen with both procedures. If you get it at FP one of the surgeon asst is great very funny her name is little debbie she and everyone else are soooo nice.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
