Question about dress sizes from a newbie

Recommended Posts

Well' date=' I went in and asked them and the seamstress told me to go down 2 sizes and worst case scenario is that if it didn't fit, then I could rush order some extra material in for them to fix it. I would hope that I'm down 2 sizes from now at that point though. The reason we had to order now is because it's a special order dress that takes 4 months to come in.[/quote']

I know this might not be an option financially...but if it is, what I would do is order two of them a couple of sizes apart. I know that might seem like a silly expense but it would solve the problem and the other one not worn could be donated to a prom charity (they collect formals for kids to choose from for a pittance...ten or twenty bucks each etc) and you can take the deduction for the donation on your taxes. Just a thought :)

Sounds like you're ordering from David's bridal, if so they will take the dress back if you're smaller than 2 sizes or larger than 2 siZes and order you another-- just check your dress about 2 months before the wedding and make the call. I got married Saturday-- my wedding gown was a 22 originally and the new one was a 14 (sleeved in September) I could have worn a 12 by the time the wedding hit though... Everyone is different though...

Two of my bridesmaids had to do this as well and they totally honored it...

Oh and the other thing I was just thinking of...a wedding alteration shop can maybe only go down a couple of sizes because they do BASIC alterations. But a quality seemstress or tailor can alter a larger garment down to a size zero if necessary. They have to basically rebuild it, reshaping all seems, but they can do this. I had it done to a suit that I just loved years ago. I had spent a great deal on it for a job interview that was going to make me a VP (I'm now VP of toilets and laundry...what a waste LOL). I got the job and wore the suit often. It was about a 12, but lost a bunch of weight and took it to a seemstress who rebuilt it for me to a size 4/6 approximately (tailored it to my body exactly). She had to redo the lining etc, but it was like having a new suit and it cost maybe $125 or $150...far less than that silly suit did :) If the dress is grossly big than you could take it from the bridal shop (they just redo outside seems and don't do any work on the inner tailoring) and take it to a really good place to have it fit correctly to your new body.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
