Got my protein going on this morning!

Recommended Posts

I'm struggling to drink the last of my shake so I thought I'd boast a bit, lol, and see if that'll motivate me for the last of it.

I have 1/2 c left and I'll have 56 G Protein and 24 oz ff milk and Water down!!!!

I'm starting to hate these things!!!!!!

It kills me to this day to drink 8 oz of Protein. Lol

Who knew liquid could sit so heavy! I always try to trick my body into thinking its just Water or juice, but it knows!!!

I try to drink mine in the hour it takes me to get to work each morning. But it's like my mind knows and wont drink it.

I don't have problems with big gulps of liquid, but if I take big gulps of Protein, my stomach will be killing me by the time I get out of the car

Oh, I do not take joy in saying this but the body is only able to utilize about 30 grams of Protein at a time... So the rest is "wasted" sorry :(

Laura

So perhaps drinking it half for one meal and then go back to it later for another meal?

I can't gulp anything. I'm 11 days out and just sipping constantly. I put 40 g in one shake and that, along with 16 g of milk Protein is all I can manage. I'm struggling to get it all in this morning.

Actually, I'm not too distraught. I'm a bit amused by my antics. Oh well, tomorrow is a new day.

I know what you mean, I'm not crazy about Protein Drinks either. As soon as I was cleared for soft foods, I made it a point of eating my Protein instead of drinking it. I was low at first, but I was eventually able to meet my goals.

Protein Shakes feel like a rock in my stomach. I sometimes drink 1/2 a premier shake in the morning and the other 1/2 in the afternoon. But I prefer to eat my Protein instead of drinking it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
