courtoomp 107 Posted February 28, 2013 I am trying to keep my carbs under 40 a day but that leaves me with no Fiber. Anyone subtracting fiber from carbs to get net carbs instead? I can't even eat a Quest bar bc it takes up all my carbs... But it's so much fiber. Nut isn't available right now so I'll just take the group consensus on this! Thoughts? SerendipityHappens 1,594 Posted February 28, 2013 I have done low carb before and try for 30 carbs NOT INCLUDING the fiber.
castiel 66 Posted February 28, 2013 I'm close to 11 weeks post op, and I've been using chia seeds since about week 7 or 8. I get mine from trader joe's. for 2 table spoons, it's only 2 carbs and 12g of fiber! I usually eat them in my chili, but I'm sure you could put them in your Protein Shake or anything else! FishingNurse 1,211 Posted February 28, 2013 I found this to be a dilemma when I have been dieting and doing Atkins in the past. Best route is veggies-- fairly low carb, some fiber. I didn't count carbs for weight loss post-op, just kept my cals 1200-1500 and made sure 75 grams or more for Protein. you will find what works best for your body! courtoomp 107 Posted February 28, 2013 Thanks y'all. I will try the chia seeds. And just have the Protein Bars when I'm in a pinch. Try to get fiber veggies but hard bc can barely finish my protein!
hollirrose 249 Posted March 2, 2013 The bars, for some, stall weight loss. I have seen many posts about it. They also can set off the carb monster. Just a warning... I do see that you said "only in a pinch" so that is probally the best use of them. =)
courtoomp 107 Posted March 2, 2013 Didn't even think about stalling weight loss. Wonder why...maybe bc you do end up having more carbs. Thanks for the insight
AKSleever 57 Posted March 2, 2013 They can slow Weight loss down, however their are some great nut bars out there in the grocery stores that are high in Protein have lost 90 pounds in 9 months so very happy with my progress! Plus remember if you stall change something! Some times your body is saying your not getting enough carbs, too much, or you need to up your calories! You have to adjust your own stuff according to your own body!
