Been on this site for awhile and just figured out there is a GLBT forum. Fun! It will be nice to chit chat with some of you. Things are going great for me I was sleeved on Feb. 19 got legally married on Feb 17 and we are expecting a baby on Oct 15. I'm so exciting to become healthy so I can be a great parent. I wish everyone pre-op luck and wish the best for everyone on the losers bench glad I'm finally there.

It is always busy around here with my husband and kiddos, too! We are in a different phase of life tho. My children are 18 and 20. We are planning a wedding. My daughter the 20 year old will be married in September!

That's what I am thinking! Although I would hit rewind and do the parenting thing all over! :)

Oh Amie I am so excited for you! What an exciting year!!! And if that baby can hold on one day longer it could share my birthday!! ;)

I know one of my biggest motivating factors in revising my complete flop of a band to a sleeve (aside from its many complications) is my desire to be a more active and parent!

Congratulations on your sleeve, your marriage (shameful that we have to put significance on it being legal, but so exciting all the same) and even more so, the beginning of your family! Such an exciting time!

Look forward to watching your progress!!! :)

Thanks Kristina it is going to be a great year even thinking about trying to buy a house around Sept. :)

Man I can't believe you have had to deal with all those band issues I hope you will enjoy having the sleeve. So far I love it but can't wait to move on from liquids to pureed food.

Btw do you recommend Dr. Garcia? I've been look on here for a good doctor to send my mom to in Mexico. We have been in touch with Dr. Kelly but I like to have a few to look into. If I remember right Kelly was $5500 do you know how much Garcia is?

I am not scheduled until May 11th, but so far I am so confident in my choice with Dr. Garcia that even I can't believe it!! I am paying $5500, but that is with consideration for my revision, so I have heard that others are paying even less!! :) I will definitely keep in touch and let you know how it goes in May, but I have heard the most amazing things from so many people who have used him and I researched quite a few different doctors before settling on him!

I will keep my fingers crossed for you that you guys can get a house this year too. My husband and I were able to get a house again after he had to foreclose on his old home due to his divorce. My family had to help us, but the feeling of having a place of our own for our kids to grow up in has been such a wonderful feeling!! I really hope you can add that to your whirlwind blessing windfall!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
