I am out post op 6 weeks everything is normal BUT I am getting dizzy spells every day I feel like someone sucked all energy from me It happens couple of times a day I even fell a couple of times but luckily I was not hurt. I went to my surgeon they diagnosed that my sleeve was too tight in the middle they fixed it with balloon but I am still feeling the same way I have been taking all my medicines on time got my blood work done which came normal my surgeon is very confused they checked me for dehydration but tests came normal a couple of times I had to pull over so that I can close my eyes and sleep.Once I feel weak I close my eyes and go to sleep for any where from 45 mins to 2 hrs while I have my spell I can't even move no strength at all and then wake up normal. Please help.

So sorry you are going through this. A few thoughts come to mind:

* could you be hypoglycemic? of have some other undiagnosed condition--there are all sorts of different diseases like glycogen storage disease (most severe kind is uncommon but secondary kinds not diagnosed a lot of times until someone is an adult). I would go see an endocrinologist and get a thorough workup.

* how many calories are you eating a day? could you need more? how much Protein? Can you keep nuts in your car and eat some when you have the spells and see if that helps? (or pureed nuts like a spoonful of almond butter if you aren't cleared for whole nuts yet).

* could it be hormonal? perimenopause? (don't know how old you are) or if you are a man or woman.

* possible dehydration

Just looked at your profile again and saw you are a guy. So we can rule out perimenopause. But could still be hormonal/endocrine. Would definitely go see an endocrinologist--thyroid, adrenals, etc.?

I read on other forums it might be body reacting and adjusting to new lifestyle but I am worried I want to join work and feel guilty about staying home but body is not helping me

How many calories are you eating a day? Maybe you need more frequent protein-centric mini-meals throughout the day to keep your blood sugar stable. I would ask your dr and dietitian.

THIS WAS HAPPENING TO ME! It started about 5 days post op after i took my pain med and went for a walk. I couldn't shake the dizziness for a week. If i stood up it was a wrap. The more I moved around the dizzier I got.

Thank God it finally wore off....then again i stopped taking the post op meds the first day of dizziness. Im not certain if they are linked but it was the most frustrating and emotionally challenging part of the process so far.

      Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
      What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
