Tt after hernia repair?

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved last may and have a large abdominal hernia that I need repaired. My insurance won't cover the tt. I have heard that you can't go back and get a tt after getting a hernia repair- is this true?

i don't see why you couldn't.. tummy tucks don't typically involve any modification to the muscle.

go get a consult with a plastic surgeon and see what he/she has to say about it.

Some general surgeons will do the TT at the same time as the hernia repair. If they code it correctly the insurance should cover it. I discussed it with my surgeon before my sleeve was done.

I have a friend who worked with her plastic surgeon and had him do her Tummy Tuck immediately after the hernia repair, and only had to pay the plastic surgeon's bill, as her insurance covered the operating room costs, anesthesia, etc.

Actually MOST TTs include muscle repair---- that's a main reason for them- muscle revision and tightening.

I just had a Tummy Tuck 5 days ago. After my surgery my surgeon told me he I had a hernia and some scar tissue from my previous vsg surgery and gall bladder surgery that other surgeons did. My tummy tuck surgeon informed me he took care of it all for free while he was in there doing my tummy tuck. :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
