popcorn

Recommended Posts

I haven't had any desire for popcorn, but I had some sunflower seeds on my 3rd week with no stomach upset. I can't eat but about 1/2 oz at a time, they fill me up quick! It takes about an hour to eat a 2 oz pkg.

I tried some peanuts as well, but my stomach doesn't tolerate them as easily as sunflower seeds.

2 months was suggested to me. You don't want anything getting caught in the staple line while the scar tissue is forming. Could cause issues.

I had it about a month out, I was basically back to norm eating though. Careful when you do try it, it's a slider for me and lots and lots of other people I have read

I wasn't told not to eat popcorn but I'm sure I had to wait till I was around a month out and was eating normal food but I honestly can't remember when I ate popcorn for the first time.. I'm 3 and half months out and I think I've had popcorn twice probably but yeah be careful because it is a slider specially be careful if u plan on eating it while watching a movie or something cause that mindless eating is the worst and u can down a whole bag without thinking while being focused on something else... For me at least and other ppl I've heard it's a slider it doesn't fill you up so u can eat a lot without even noticing...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
