I am one week and 2 days post sleeve. If I didn't physically see the incision marks, I would swear nothing was changed. Yes, my appetite has lessened but I find myself being able to eat more than I should. I can eat about 1/4 c of Greek yogurt or about 1/2 can of ff cream of chicken Soup without feeling like I'm full. Is this average? Last night when everyone had pizza I ate abou1/4 of ricotta with 2tbsp of Tomato sauce, went down fine no issues, really wanted the pizza though. I can also gulp Water down no issue. Should I be worried?

Also, does the drinking before /after rule still apply during full liquid phase?

Hello and congrats on being post-op.

The drinking rule always applies. Might as well get into the habit.

You are most likely not quite as swollen as most folks at this point. I had a hiatal hernia as well, so my swelling was a bit more than usual, I think. But, if you think about it, everyone's tissues are going to be swollen post surgery. This swelling is going to be the source of some restriction. If your swelling goes away quicker, then the sooner you will be able to consume "more". As far as what you are eating now, it is mostly liquidy in nature. It is not going to stay in the stomach long and pass quickly through the pyloric valve and into the intestines for absorption.

Stay away from the pizza until 6 mos out.

My husband and I had surgery 2/8/2013. He is like you I call him cast Iron stomach. He can drink a whole Protein Shake in my 25 minutes. a bottle of Water in a house. 1/2 cup of Soup in 15 minutes without getting sick! It takes me 2 hours to eat 1/4 of a cup. It takes me all 2 hours to eat 2 tablespoons of refired Beans, guac, and greek yogurt mixed. Most things bother my sleeve. With him it seems like nothing bothers his. He is still losing weight tho.

I'm 2 weeks post op. Fluids went down well with no restriction. I started on sorts yesterday. You will definitely notice a difference. I could only eat 1/2 of a scrambled egg!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
