GayleTX 1 Posted November 19, 2006 It depends on your doctor and on your medical history.
Malice X Girl 0 Posted November 20, 2006 Hey i'd love more info on the endoscopy if you could tell me. I am about to go in for my one year mark and wonder how much it costs, what's involved, how you felt afterwards ect.
Shellybeans 0 Posted November 20, 2006 I had an endoscopy and it actually is not bad. You are sedated very heavily so you are not even aware of what is going on. A tube was placed down my throat and into my stomach. Not a real big deal. I did have to take the day off work because of the sedation. Good luck!!

Ruby Band 0 Posted November 20, 2006 Well, I had to have one. The procedure itself is not bad at all. However, you are sedated and need to have someone drive you both ways. During my surgery consultation, I mentioned that I had been choking on my food and I coughed so much that I had blacked out twice. It turned out that I had a bacterial infection in my stomach and that needed to be treated before surgery. I had to take about twelve huge pills a day for two weeks. It delayed surgery by three weeks, but I am so glad that I was well before surgery. Mary
alma2bfree 0 Posted November 20, 2006 I am having lapband December 12 . I was kind of worried about my age I am 54. My dotor said I was in pretty good shape, better than many she saw. Any older ones out there that have had lapband?

jigglypuff 0 Posted November 20, 2006 Hi-- I just had an endoscopy on Thursday. I was nervous, but it wasn't bad. You are sedated via an IV, and I also had the back of my throat swabbed with some lidocaine. One of the meds they usually give, Versed, makes you forget. I have only a faint memory of briefly feeling something in my throat, but I wasn't panicked due to the meds. Then I woke up in the recovery room. My appt was at 9:30 am, I was home by 11:15 am, and then I slept for a good 2 hrs. I was told not to drive that whole day. I did go and drive later in the afternoon--about 4 pm. But it wasn't until then that I felt I could. I did feel kind of tired the whole day. I had no sore throat or anything. I've had more overall discomfort from getting a facial peel. Try to get an am appt, if possible, because you cannot eat or drink before the appt. Good luck!
Nathalie 4 Posted November 20, 2006 I had an endoscopy. I was anxious at the idea of having an IV and a tube shoved down my throat, but it was painless. I was heavily sedated, laid on my side and don't remember anything clearly for the rest of the day. My friend took me home and we drank wine and giggled with each other for hours. That rocked. *laugh* Honestly, it wasn't as bad as I expected.
