I drink about 2 cups of home-brewed coffee every day--one with Miralax and sometimes one with Protein Powder (my surgeon doesn't limit caffeine). Pre-op, I usually only had hot tea in the morning and coffee on the weekends, but the coffee (and the Miralax) are helping to keep my digestive system going while not eating much Fiber. I feel fine on it and it doesn't irritate my stomach in any way. I drink extra Water to make up for the coffee. I am three weeks post-op.

What everyones experience with coffee about a month out? What kind of coffee do you drink?

I drink chike Protein powder. Lol. I really do. It gives me my iced coffee fix. Also the click vanilla coffee (I think) but I don't like the mocha flavored one. It's weird, but my tummy doesn't like it.

I haven't ventured out to regular coffee, although I thought about it today. The first time I have even wanted it. (6 weeks post-op).

I only drink plain old coffee. I drink mine with lots of splenda and coffeemate. I haven't had any problems.

A month out, I tried Starbucks skinny latte and couldn't drink it. It gave me a pain in my chest. I had the iced sugar free vanilla coffee from Mc Donalds with no problems. Everyone's different. Good luck!

I have been a coffee addict since I was 16, grande mocha or caramel macchiato. My nutritionist had me switch to americanos and I would add milk and sugar. I was very worried that I wouldn't be able to drink it after surgery. I started drinking it on my 4th day after surgery, but I think I'm going to limit myself to only drinking it when I don't have to go into work, regular home brewed coffee. I'm finding that when I buy my americano, I don't drink much of it. I'm too busy trying to make sure I get enough Water in throughout the day. I've done fine without the coffee, too.

Welp, I just had about one third of a small vanilla latte from McDonald's and lets just say that I'm no longer constipated :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
