To fill or not to fill???

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

Well, I guess it is my turn to start a new thread. I am really wondering about fills and whether I should have another one or not. I would appreciate your opinions and thoughts.

I am still losing well (better than I thought only 3 lbs to go to hit my Christmas goal- I am averaging around 2.5 lbs per week). But it is a lot of work to get there. I am scheduled for a fill on November 29th and since I have to fly down to get it, it is kind of important that I do it when I can.

But... I have had no problems - no pb's no getting stuck. Yep I have restriction but that's it. And I am going to my in-laws for 2 weeks at Christmas and I don't want to be so tight that it is crazy.

So... all of this to say... should I get a fill or wait until after Christmas. I am sure like many of you that I am terrified of not getting it done and then gaining weight (do we ever loose that fear?).

I would love your thoughts out there.

Thanks,

Dawn

My opinion is that it is a no brainer. If you are averaging 2.5 lbs a week, you definitely do NOT need a fill...it working wonderfully for you....so why mess with it?

What do you mean by saying "I have restriction but that is it"?? You say it like that is a bad thing. That is what is supposed to happen....you should be able to be at the sweet spot (ie. lose 1-2 lbs per week) and NOT experience sliming, pbs, pain, stuck feeling etc....THAT IS the goal.

So personally, I think you'd be nutso to mess with where you're at!!!!

I don't mince words sometimes, eh?! LOL

Thanks for not mincing words Yoda!!! I think I just needed to hear it. Of course this weekend I was up 2 lbs (seems my cycle is lose 3 or 4 during the week and then gain 1 or 2 on the weekend.)

I think you guys are right and I will wait it out a bit more/

Thanks a lot.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
